Certified October, 2021 at Metropolitan Pilates

“Pilates is demanding of the mind and of the body, but it feeds the spirit.”

In January of 2019, I traveled from my home in Martha’s Vineyard to San Francisco for a cooking course meant to inspire a meaningful transition in my life. Although I loved my experience cooking, it was a Pilates instructor’s class I took nearby that stuck with me. I had practiced mat Pilates but something about the one-on-one sessions resonated with me in a new way. The detailed attention given to me was unmatched to any other exercise instruction I’d had in the past, and it produced a workout that felt both well rounded and uniquely satisfying.

A year later, I followed that urge to make a big change and moved across the country to take a deep dive into the study of Pilates. I enrolled in the Metropolitan Authentic Training program led by Dorothee Van De Walle at her home studio. The more I learned and practiced the more I fell in love with the Pilates method. The benefits of this practice flooded into all aspects of my life leaving me feeling perpetually stronger and empowered.

Since graduating the program in 2021, I love passing along my passion and understanding of the Pilates method and watching it manifest in my clients. Although my style of teaching is precise and thorough, I want my clients to enjoy an invigorating workout. I encourage my clients to build autonomy in their workouts, whether while working with me or working independently.

I consider myself a forever student of Pilates and feel as though I am in a constant state of learning with this work, both in my own practice and my teaching.
